CHILDREN OF PARADISE: Successful Parenting for Prosperous Families

by Lee Hausner

Although this is officially "Out of Print," it's worth buying a used copy on Amazon (or any other used bookstore).

This is my favorite parenting tome of all times!

If you haven’t read it, I’m sure I won’t like your kids. Seriously. It starts off as if it was written for uber-wealthy and/or celebrity families (like we care… not!) but wait — it’s really a parenting guide for type-A folks such as myself and my husband. Throw in a little bit of success to validate that type-A personality and voila, you have a potential recipe for raising uninspiring, unmotivated, depressed, dependent and annoying kids. Daunting, eh? There is so much to learn here.

Type-A intentions = good. Type-A parenting instincts = disaster. Hausner gives very hands-on advice on almost all aspects of child-rearing. At the heart of her philosophy/teachings is that if you can build healthy self-esteem in your children, most of the other aspects of humaning the next generation fall into place. This should be required reading for any type A-parent (or a spouse married to one).
